Living in a $$$ society

Still learning to struggle in this big money society.

My colleagues and I were having a rather interesting discussion during lunch yesterday. Basically, it’s about earning more but feeling poorer.

How this topic came about. Hew was mentioning that these days, even fruits are pretty expensive. He compared us with the undeveloped countries and ask if we are poorer than them.

Good question. R we rely being beta off than those 3rd world countries? Put aside war and riots and strikes and jus look in terms of monetary power. Frankly, I am not so sure.

Hew was from M’sia and his family used to grow their own crops and rear their poultry. He highlighted to mi tat he get fruits everyday, fresh from the plant. They hv mangoes, rambutan, water apple, durians, mongosteen etc just outside their house.

He get to eat fresh eggs, fresh chickens/ducks. He get to go to the river to catch prawns n go fishing for their own fish. (entertainment plus free food)

All are so call FOC.

But now, everyting counts. Even a plastic bag is chargeable. So, r we a slave of the lifestyle we are in? The food we are eating are less fresh, yet we are paying more. We earn beta in terms of $$ but same time, we hv more debts. HDB flats are getting more n more expensive. How many of us can pay off our HDB flats in 5 yrs these days?
During our parents days, flats is less than $100k and is bigger than what we are paying for a $400k new flat now. Y is it so? Has inflation rely went up so many times tat houses seems a life-time debts for every Singaporean.

Y do we hv to be in debts for 30 years? Is it rely due to the scare pc of land we are in? If this pl is rely so small, den y does the govt invite/accept so many foreigners into the country?

Look around Geylang Road. I believe you will see more foreigners than locals. I dun even feel save going home myself late at nite. Aljunied MRT station is flooded with the Chinese and the Blacks. So, wat are the security for residents like us?

Haiz, sumtimes, I rely dislike being a Singaporean. I m earning more than I used to be 5 yrs ago. I m living a beta life-style. But I can’t say I am a happier person. I miss my kid days where with $0.50 I can eat a plate of rojak. Where I walk to school without my classmates comparing my results or where did I go for holidays. I missed the days where neighbours are friendlier and more helpful.
All these were our trade off, for a so call beta life-style. We jus hv to accept, Singapore is a very competitive place to live in. N it’s a 100% money world. Every cents count.

Internet transactions Updates

Wow wow wow. It's been almost half a year since I last blog. Almost forgotten about my login and pw.

See, I've been a lazy pig these days. No wonder I've put on 2kg for nothing. Wat I enjoy now is shopping at hardwarezone & ebay. These days, hv been spending time doing market research on gaming stuff and netbook.

Well well, more or less wat need to be done are done.

A brief summary of items traded thru the net...

Sold my psp for $270 - kinda sad cos I missed my psp at times and I tot the agreed price is bit too low.

Bot a 2nd hand DS lite for a week and sold it - best of all, the DSL is pink wif Kitty skin and was sold to a guy in Airforce uniform who claims tat he is buying for his personal usage.... *faintz

Bot a new white DSL - happy with this buy since from the trade of a old and new DSL, I managed to get a R4 in full box (about $40 from my trading of 2nd hand DSL)

Bot a cute Disney DSL skin for my new toy -Happy wif tis buy despite my bro tink tat it looks ugly. I find it unique and suitable for mi (though it's not pink)

Bot my Wii set - I find it a gd buy @ $385 modded set with 3 free games

Bot an extra set of wiimote + nunchuck - kana cheated for tis. @$78 but end up not an original set. The nunchuck is faulty oni after like 5x of usage and the wiimote hv difficulty connecting to the Wii console. Luckily I managed to contact the seller to ask for an exchange. So far so gd for the exchanged set (crossing my fingers)

Bot a set of pink and blue wiimote + nun silicon case - cheap buy ($8) but not sure if when 1st handling the silicon was done too roughly tat caused a little torn or the original case was a torn one. Heng heng the torn is not serious nor obvious. Still usable and quite smooth for handling.

Bot a PSP skin for driver's set - din get to buy our 1st choice. Let's hope the 2nd choice will look nice (stilll waiting for the post) as it's XX$15.

Bot a Disney (match my DSL) Wii console skin (wif skin for wiimote) - @ $15, nt cheap thus hope the item is worth the price (also waiting for the post). No choice, wanted a protection for the wii console and wan sumting unique and diff from others.

Bot another 10 games for my Wii - nt a bad buy ($4 each). Rely like the guy we trade wif. He helped to test our wiimote +nun and oso given us sum new games to be save into the console (I end up with another 3 more games). Nice guy. Would recommend buyers to him if any frenz interested.

Bot a Disney CD/DVD holder - gd buy @ $2.80. Mainly for my Wii games since they come in DVD. Disney cos my DSL and Wii skin are Disney, so to match my items. At least it's in pink *smiles*

Bot a Wii bag - items looks nice from the internet pic. But still waiting for the item to reach me. Wun hv too high hopes since I noe it's a cheap buy. $16 plus shipping cost

My latest and most expensive buy : Acer AOA150 @$489 - I would say is a good buy though I din mge to get it in white or pink as wat I tot I would. Though it's black, but I tink it's rely nice. Glossy black surface with all black interior. Well, for a 6 cell batt, I tink it's worth to take a black color set. Sum more at $489, which is $199 lesser than retail price ($688) at courts/pc show.

Still testing out my netbook since it's oni 2 days old (kekekekke).

Sumtimes, after so used to internet surfing, I tends to get hook on it. I search for everyting "buyable" from the net. Tis is dangerous, Very very dangerous as I'll continue to buy and buy. Like those skins which is totally unnecessary.

Nw, I'm oredi searching for my netbook skin, netbook casing/bag, screen protector etc.

Jus over the wkn, I was oso looking at Burberry bags and Coach Bags.....

Hmmm, mayb hv to stop net surfing otherwise will continue to buy and buy.
