I've changed another job (again). Well, if there is a beta offer, why not.
Lotsa tings happened this yr. I resigned in early March, ended my previous job in end Apr. Went for a Europe trip in May and started a new job in June.
More to come with the wedding this year end. Chosen my pics for the album. An appt in Oct for the actual day gown. Need to find time to the florist, preferably this month or early next month, going over to JB to check out the printing for invitation cards. Parents meet up session in Oct and a Bangkok trip mid Oct. Seems like alot on my plate.
I like all these little little events that occupies my time. Occasional 'nothing to do weekend' is fine, but if every week there is nothing to do, it kinda bores me alot. With all this in the pipe line all the way till the honeymoon in Jan, I guess I'll be pretty bz, happily bz with the tasks to do.
But the day to day is another issue for me. There is nothing to do in the office. We have not started a single business yet. There is pressure from the company to close the first deal, do the first delivery. As we do not have any salesman, it becomes more pressurizing as the management expect the staff to help to get sales as well.
I hated to be push to do sales. In general, I m not a very sociable person. Occasional small talks are ok, but not ez for me. I don't like to talk to pple I m not familiar with. I am some1 who needs time to get close to pple b4 I can feel comfortable to talk and mingle with. Cold-calling is something I dreaded. I m avoiding it and I know mgt is not happy about it. But, be fair, when the co employ me, it's for the CS role. Why now I have to be responsible for getting the sales? Is this fair for me? Moreover, not every1 can be a sales person. It takes time to build the confidence to go out and sell. And if the co is not ready, what can I sell. Somehow, I know the mgt is desperate, but still, they need to understand the business before we can go out selling. What is our strategy? Who are our target customers? What are we selling? B4 we iron out these, it's difficult to just go out and sell.
Everyday, I'll jus sit in the ofc and act bz. There is really almost nothing to do. Especially when the branch mgr also does not dedicate much job downwards. Well, every1 is trying to protect himself/herself. When there is no biz in the co, I am not surprise that individual keep job to themselves and act bz to justify their stay.
My hope is that I could stay in this co for at least another 2 years. This would help me to settle my short terms plans. Of cus, it would be best if we start selling and biz grow to a stage I do not need to check the clock and count down to 6pm. I can't wait for the day to come when I'll get bz for 8hrs a day at work and go hm feeling satisfied that I've contributed for what I am paid for.
Alot of bosses feel tat staff are lazy. They have this perception that all staff will try not to work and would cheat co money, time and resources. I beg to differ. I know alot of pple whom does not like to have nothing to do. Life is very boring when there is nothing to do at work, esp when we spend most of our time at work. Most of us would be happy to be productive and achieve job satisfaction. Human is the biggest resource for Singapore. Co needs to know who to tab on for the rite talents/capability/skills. By doing so, both the staff and the co will benefit.
As of now, I know my Co is not good at this. Every1 has their own agenda n no1 is looking at the big picture. U r to look for some tings to do urself and not sit there to get paid for nothing. I m disappointed but there isn't much I can do.
If nothing works out for another month, I might b sitting in the ofc doing cold-calling despite me 'hated' such a role. No choice, I need the money as we are all living in a 'money-minded' society.
